Let me pass you over now to Lynsey.
Tell us a bit about yourself My name is Lynsey Waterson & I'm 32 years old. I moved to Bonnyrigg 7 years ago from Penicuik with my husband, Jason. I have 2 chocolate Labradors named Bailley (8) & Cooper (18 months) who are loving but are completely crazy!! In my spare time I like catching up with my friends & family (usually over a few shots of tequila!!).
How long have you been a mobile nail technician? 5 years - 3yrs working evenings & weekends only as I worked full time in an office too. The passed 2 years I have been a full time nail tech.
What prompted you to become a mobile nail technician? I was made redundant from my full time employment & decided to do something completely different. I've always loved doing people's nails, even as a kid, so it seemed a logical move. Being mobile means I can expand my client base to mums with very young kids who can't get to a salon and also to those ladies whose work full time during the week & don't want to waste their free weekends sitting around nail bars.
Where do you mostly work about? Most of my customers are based in Midlothian, mainly Penicuik, where I'm originally from.
What is your favourite thing about your job? Customer satisfaction. Seeing my customers wee faces light up when they see their finished nails. It's the best feeling! I enjoy a good blether too over a cuppa tea!
Tell us about the products you use? I use CND Shellac, CND Additives & Lecenté Glitter. I also use Dashing Diva Design FX wraps.
What services do you provide? Manicure & pedicure using nail polish or Shellac. Rockstar nails. Swarovski pedicure. Toe wraps (maybe known as Minx). Callus Peel.
What is your most popular nail colour right now? Tutti Fruiti, hands down! The brightest pink Shellac have & it's perfect for summer holidays & weddings.
What advice would you give to brides and of course guests about their nails for the big day? Go natural! Try to grow your own nails as the unfamiliar length of extensions may cause issues when it comes to getting ready &, indeed, going to the toilet when in your gown! Don't be pressured into sticking with the classic French manicure. There's nothing wrong with adding a bit of colour and sparkle. I've noticed a trend this passed year where brides are having their nails the same colour as their bridesmaids dresses & flowers. And brides, go crazy with your toes! Bright & sparkly! Chances are your dress will hide them on your big day but you'll be so glad you went bold when you're on honeymoon, lying on the beach, with a Piña Colada in hand, looking down at your glittering tootsies!
